Henderson Repeats as 100-Meter Champion as McKendree Men Finish Eighth at GLVC Outdoor Meet

Donovan Friscia was second in the 200-meter dash and third in the 100-meter dash on the final day of the 2014 GLVC Outdoor Championships
(ROMEOVILLE, Ill., May 3)—McKendree University senior Jordon Henderson (St. Louis, MO/Cardinal Ritter) completed a dominant two-year run in Great Lakes Valley Conference post-season competition Saturday on the final day of the 2014 GLVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Romeoville, Ill.

Henderson raced to victory in the finals of the men's 100-meter dash Saturday afternoon on the second and final day of competition of the conference meet. Henderson, who won the 100-meter crown at the 2013 GLVC meet, repeated as the champion of the event by posting a winning time of 10.53 seconds. The time hit an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark for Henderson, who also swept the 60-meter crowns in each of the last two years at the GLVC Indoor Championships.

Thanks in part to Henderson's efforts, McKendree finished eighth overall in the final team standings. The Bearcats registered 45 points over the two-day meet, which was contested on the campus of Lewis University. Missouri S & T won the men's team title with 172 points, well ahead of the University of Indianapolis which took second place with 124 points.

Sophomore Donovan Friscia (Jacksonville, FL/Bartram Trail) placed third in the finals of the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.73 seconds. Friscia then notched a second-place effort in the 200-meter dash as he crossed the finish line in a time of 22.05 seconds.

In the men's 4 x 100-meter relay, McKendree collected top honors with an effort of 41.60 seconds. Henderson and Friscia helped anchor the quartet that raced to victory, along with sophomore Cameron James (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) and freshman Eddie Lusk (Maryville, IL/Triad). The Bearcats also claimed eighth place in the finals of the 4 x 400-meter relay. The group of senior Blake DeLong (Hillsboro, IL/Hillsboro), junior Zach Fieber, sophomore Moses Randich (Eldoret, Kenya/Chebiemit School) and sophomore Erick Korir (Eldoret, Kenya/Segero) combined to post a time of 3:30.78 in the event.

DeLong registered an eighth place finish in the 1,500-meter run on Saturday. DeLong was clocked in a time of 4:06.03 in his final GLVC individual event.
