McKendree University Names Adam Reeb as New Head Coach of Bearcat Men’s and Women’s Tennis Programs

(Lebanon, Ill., May 28)- McKendree University director of athletics Chuck Brueggemann announced on Tuesday the hiring of Adam Reeb as the new head coach of the Bearcats' men's and women's tennis programs.

He replaces former head coach Chris McMillin, who served as head coach of the men's program for five seasons, before also leading the women's program this past season.

Reeb joins the staff after serving a one-year stint as head coach of the men's and women's tennis teams at Lindenwood University-Belleville. In only the program's third year of existence, Reeb led the men's and women's tennis teams to 7-13 and 5-13 overall marks, respectively, in the NAIA. He also coordinated and ran the Lynx Tennis Fall Classic Tournament, a fundraising event that benefitted the tennis programs at Lindenwood-Belleville.

“We're really excited to have a coach of Adam's caliber join our staff,” said Brueggemann. “He has a wide range of experience as a coach, instructor and player. Coach Reeb and is well known in the tennis community throughout the area. Equally important is the success that student-athletes have had in the classroom under his guidance. He epitomizes what we look for in members of our coaching staff and he's a great addition to the staff at McKendree.”

Reeb is no stranger to McKendree University tennis, having served as an assistant coach for the men's team during the 2009-10 season. He helped lead the Bearcats to a 20-5 record that season and was named the 2010 ITA NAIA Men's Tennis Region III Assistant Coach of the Year.

"I'm very excited to lead the McKendree tennis programs,” Reeb said. “McKendree holds a special place in my heart as it's the first school I ever coached at, and I feel honored to be able to come back and take over both teams.  It's an exciting time to be a Bearcat as we finish the transition into NCAA Division II, and we look forward to competing with some of the best tennis programs regionally and nationally in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. We will strive for excellence every day, and we will be a program that the University and community will be proud of both on the court and in the classroom."

Reeb played collegiate tennis at Saint Louis University and was a co-captain during his junior and senior seasons. He finished his career in 2009 ranked seventh in career doubles wins for the Billikens, and was named the team's Most Improved Player during his junior season after leading the team in both doubles winning percentage and overall winning percentage. He was also a three-time Atlantic-10 Academic All-Conference award winner, was named to the A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll every semester, and was an ITA Scholar-Athlete.

Prior to his coaching stop at Lindenwood-Belleville, Reeb served as an assistant coach at his alma mater for two seasons, helping lead the men's and women's programs to 14-23 and 26-16 records, respectively. The women's team reached the finals of the 2011 Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament, its highest finish in school history, and had a player ranked in the top 125 in national singles, and two ranked in the top 20 of the Central Region, both firsts in school history.

He helped guide six players to All-Conference honors, as well as mentoring the 2011 Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Performer and Most Outstanding Rookie Performer award winners. In the classroom, Reeb's had 10 earn ITA Scholar-Athlete awards, three Atlantic-10 Academic All-Conference honorees, and one named Atlantic-10 Student-Athlete of the Year.

A native of Belleville, Ill., Reeb was a two-time Illinois state tournament qualifier at Althoff Catholic High School. He won two South 7 Conference championships and was a four-time All-Area and All-Conference performer. He was a two-time All-Metro selection by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, and was ranked as high as No. 3 in the St. Louis District during his prep career.

Reeb graduated summa cum laude from Saint Louis University in 2009 with a bachelor of science in business administration with a concentration in leadership and change management. In 2010, he graduated with honors from the United States Sports Academy with a master's degree in sport science.
