(JACKSONVILLE, Ill., April 27)—The McKendree University women's track and field team registered a 13
th place finish Saturday at the True Blue Open, which was hosted by Illinois College in Jacksonville, Ill.
The Bearcats placed in five different events to collect a total of 27.5 points in the meet. Missouri S & T brought home the women's championship with 152 points.
Senior
Kristin Wykoff (Highland, IL/Triad) was the only McKendree team member to place in multiple events at the True Blue Open. Wykoff won the discus throw with a toss of 40.37 meters, while she also took fifth place in the shot put with an effort of 11.62 meters. Freshman
Jessica Gerber (Moro, IL/Civic Memorial) grabbed second place in the long jump as she cleared a distance of 4.84 meters.
Junior
LaTia Jefferson (Belleville, IL/Belleville East) tied for sixth place in the high jump. Jefferson cleared a height of 1.45 meters in the event. Freshman
Lynn Ford (St. Louis, MO/Normandy) rounded out the list of Bearcats who collected points at the True Blue Open by taking sixth place in the triple jump. Ford posted a top effort of 9.81 meters.
McKendree will close out its 2013 outdoor season May 3-4 at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships in Romeoville, Ill. Lewis University will serve as host for the league meet.
